The corset:
I drafted the pattern after staring at Gaultier corsets way too long. It's assymetric, with one part of the bust only covered by lace, making its way all over the shoulder. It laces in the back and buttons up in front with pearl buttons. The hip ... things (I have no idea what to call them) stand on their own, they're boned and I used some kind of stiff taffetta. I hand-stitched the lace on the corset. I was on a budget, so basically I cut up flowers and things from my random assortment of black lace fabric, it creates a whole new lace.
Fabric is cream taffetta with black netting overlay.
This was actually just meant as a prototype, which is why I used plastic boning. But it was so much fun, and I've got so many ideas for other ways to interpret this pattern, I'll definitely use it again.
I made the pillbox hat to go along with it.
The photoshoot:
I wanted it to have this kind of kindergarten-performance-play-stage-look, so we set to paint stars and clouds, branches in gold etc... We used Carmen's studio, and she and Sebastian set up the light (all this expensive equipment scares me), Carmen modeled (she's the best and I took the pictures - I took about a million, just to make sure there were some we could use, I have no skill/talent at all for photography, but alas, Mlle C. was already in front of the camera, I had no choice.

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
